3 O’Clock Coffee Club
The 3 o’clock Coffee Club is a peer-support program offered through Hope’s House, created to provide informal, heartfelt connection for first responders and their families. While professional counseling is essential, we believe there’s another vital form of support—having someone to talk to who’s truly been there. This program isn’t therapy; it’s about conversation, empathy, and being heard by someone who understands the lifestyle, the culture, and the weight that comes with service.
At its core, the 3 O’Clock Coffee Club exists to make sure that no first responder—or the people who love them—ever feel like they’re facing it all alone. It’s a seat at the table, a voice on the other end of the line, and a reminder that someone is always there to listen.
The program is open to all first responders—active or retired, career or volunteer—and their immediate families. We also welcome family members who have lost a loved one to suicide or mental health struggles. On the Coffee Club page, participants can view a list of peer volunteers, each offering a method of contact such as email. From there, it’s up to the individual to reach out and connect in the way that feels most comfortable, whether through a quick text, a phone call, or an in-person meeting if mutually agreed upon.
Who Can Join?
The name “3 O’Clock Coffee Club” pays tribute to a long-standing firehouse tradition. In many stations, mid afternoon coffee is an unofficial time to pause, share a coffee, and talk about anything and everything—from the day's calls to life’s bigger struggles. At the coffee table, rank disappears, egos are left behind, and true connection happens. It’s a moment of peace, camaraderie, and equality in the middle of a chaotic shift. That’s the spirit we carry into this program.
